Join artist and musician María Belén Luzuriaga Abad for a unique altar-making event where we explore the rich history of altar creation and its significance in various cultures. This workshop will delve into the traditional practices of honoring the deceased, focusing on Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead). Discover how this vibrant Mexican tradition celebrates the souls of treasured individuals who have passed on. Learn about similar customs from around the world. Through interactive activities and insightful discussions, we will uncover the universal themes of remembrance and celebration that connect us all.
Things to bring:
- A Photo of a loved one who has died (human or animal)
- One of their favorite snacks/things
- Extra decorations
There will be a limited supply of boxes available for attendees to build their own altar. Bring your own shoe box or use one of the shoe boxes provided! Registration required.
