Cheryl Barton-Petrie's prints draw inspiration from faces and landscapes, often using images from her world wanderings and life abroad in Greece, Zimbabwe, and many other places. Her muses are bodies, nature, and ancient history. They evoke a sense of mystery and nostalgia, which she tries to show in her work. Her primary work involves printmaking techniques, but she also life-draws and paints regularly.

Ms. Barton-Petrie has degrees in fine art, art history, and museum studies, and worked for several high-profile museums including the Norton Simon Museum and SFMOMA. She taught and wrote courses on art history for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for 20 years and has written on art for various magazines. On the Central Coast, she has exhibited with the Central Coast Printmakers at SLOMA, Morro Bay Art Association, Studios on the Park, Kenndey Health Clubs, and is a gallery resident artist at Art Central in SLO.
